{"id":723,"date":"2012-09-13T01:39:19","date_gmt":"2012-09-13T01:39:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.dixonhistory.com\/news\/?p=723"},"modified":"2012-09-13T01:45:48","modified_gmt":"2012-09-13T01:45:48","slug":"sold-out-walking-tour-shares-war-of-1812-living-history-interpretation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dixonhistory.com\/news\/sold-out-walking-tour-shares-war-of-1812-living-history-interpretation\/","title":{"rendered":"Sold Out Walking Tour Shares War of 1812 Living history interpretations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As the region celebrates the 200<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary of the War of 1812, I\u00a0worked with the Cecil County Office of Tourism to design a living history\u00a0walking tour that explored the Upper Chesapeake\u2019s stories during that dangerous time.\u00a0 Working\u00a0with a group of costumed performers, we\u00a0strolled around an old colonial river town, Charlestown, exploring thrilling tales.\u00a0 The living history interpreters dramatically <a href=\"http:\/\/cecilcounty.wordpress.com\/2012\/08\/16\/photos-from-popular-war-of-1812-walking-tour\/\">presented first-hand accounts\u00a0\u00a0<\/a>we drew from primary sources\u00a0while I provided the details\u00a0connecting the dramatic narratives.<\/p>\n<p>As the sky began to darken on that August evening, we used lanterns to light our way through the old historic district as we encountered those characters from the past.\u00a0 The sold out tour, which had a crowd of over 100-people, continues to receive lots of positive feedback\u00a0from patrons on the popular stroll.\u00a0 Some were introduced to a new chapter in\u00a0past, while for others the theatrical approach captivated them.
