{"id":10,"date":"2008-01-20T22:46:40","date_gmt":"2008-01-21T03:46:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mldixon.com\/historyblog\/?p=7"},"modified":"2023-12-04T11:23:08","modified_gmt":"2023-12-04T16:23:08","slug":"digitizing-old-sounds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dixonhistory.com\/news\/digitizing-old-sounds\/","title":{"rendered":"Digitizing Old Sounds"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>One tradition for kicking off the Christmas Season along the Baltimore &amp; Ohio Railroad&nbsp;through northeastern Maryland was&nbsp; the annual lighting of the \u201cHolly Tree by the tracks.\u201d&nbsp; The B &amp; O held the first public ceremony in 1948 when thousands of people gathered to ring in the season as lights from thousands of bulbs on the evergreen softly illuminated the Jackson, Maryland, hillside. For many years, the company dispatched a special train from Mount Royal Station to Jackson for the occasion.
